Independent 20th Century

Rosenberg & Co. is delighted to participate in Independent 20th Century, a fair committed to broadening our understanding of the canon from 1900 to 2000 by exploring new perspectives on historically recognized artists and discovering lesser-known voices. 

This year, the gallery will present a solo exhibition of works by interdisciplinary artist, Esphyr Slobodkina. The Russian-born author, illustrator, and pioneer of early American abstraction was a forerunner of hard-edge painting. Working in a variety of media, she consciously drew from and synthesized a range of inspirations – from abstraction and futurism to cubism and collage – always working outside the parameters of the passing decades’ popular movements.
